Alasdair Banks

At Art for Charity we have long been admirers of Alasdair Banks' unique artistic style and we were delighted when he agreed to be the first artist to join our gallery.

Alasdair was educated at the Edinburgh College of Art and now lives in Glasgow. He paints most days of the week in his studio in Strathbungo. Alasdair's vibrant pieces vary in size from large wall paintings to small ink studies. His works are always stimulating and full of energy.

Banks' distinctive paintings have led to a strong following being developed internationally. Alasdair's work is exhibited in Europe, the USA, and Dubai in addition to many major racecourses across the UK.

He is best known for his stunning equine artwork which captures the horse and jockey in harmony as they push for the winning post. In other examples he captures the horse in the wild. The works are always full of colour. Alasdair uses many different materials to create his artworks from delicate ink's to mixed media studies, oil paint and pastels.

Alasdair also applies his impressionistic contemporary approach to the field of architecture, cityscapes, motor racing, boxing, athletics and cricket.

In addition to his art skills he is also a fantastic presenter. Alasdair has been commissioned to work at many corporate events painting a new piece for auction or retention by the firm/charity. His "Work in Progress" is part exhibition, part performance. Those present at the event can enjoy watching Alasdair create a unique piece of artwork live. As he paints he is always happy to discuss the process and share his knowledge of art as a whole. In 2012 Alasdair travelled to Edinburgh and London for separate charitable events that Art for Charity where involved in on behalf of vInspired and St Columbas Hospice. He received outstanding feedback from all those concerned whilst helping Art for Charity raise c. £5,000.00 for the two excellent causes.

Art for Charity is proud to display and sell a range of Alasdair's equestrian works in small Edition sizes. They are signed and numbered by the Artist and certain works are also available in original form. Art for Charity are also able to deal with commissions on behalf of Alasdair.
